About Us

30 years of Low Cost Controller design

The company was established in 1975 to design and manufacture bespoke communications systems for the City of London. Working from their offices in London the company expanded rapidly with major contracts from Midland Bank, The London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Bank, Lloyds Bank, Bank of England etc.

Our company was the first to provide 24 hour global communications from London to Toronto, New York, San Francisco, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Singapore which enabled simultaneous voice and data transmission for a major money broker to their offices around the world.

Cambridge Microprocessor Systems Ltd have been designing low cost controllers for over 30 years with processor designs based around the 6502, 6809, 68K, ARM, ColdFire, PIC, H8 and many others.

In 1990 with the launch of the K-100 Mini-Module we became the first to offer single board embedded systems with a royalty free Real Time Multi Tasking operating system, Minos. The Mini-Module was supported by our own implementation of Modula-2. A C Development option followed on shortly first of all using the Microtech C Compiler then the Crossware C Compiler family.

This was followed in 1998 by the popular FlashModule embedded controller family. These offered in system programming and a very flexible range of interchangeable controllers. These can be programmed using our implementation of Modula-2 or GNU C. These products are also fully supported by the Minos real time multi tasking operating system.

Today Cambridge Microprocessor Systems Ltd are at the forefront of Embedded controller design supplying products for a wide range of applications including –
•Aircraft Testing
•Remote Switchgear Operation
•Stock Control
•Instrumentation
•Oil and Petrochemical Exploration
•Marine Science
•Environmental Control
•Training and Education
•Laser Control

TODAY

What We Offer

Our engineers have been working in the field of electronic systems design for many years and have a wealth of experience and expertise that you can rely on.

Whether it is a control system, a data logger, an instrument or a PLC that you require we will be able to assist you.

Find out more

Our PROton range of processors are low cost integrated embedded controllers using the latest ARM micro-controllers, offering low power operation. CCLIX are our ColdFire core embedded controllers

We also offer our popular FlashModule controllers, although these are no longer recommended for new designs.

We can provide you with iMind Temperature Loggers allowing users to monitor and store any changes in temperature within most environments between -40 to +85 degrees C. The logged data shows that goods have been stored within the correct temperature ranges and ensures that any temperature controlled equipment is working as specified.

Our PROton Debugger card is used during product development to connect the USB port on a development computer to the Single Wire Debug port on many ARM® core micro-controllers.

By integrating with the KDS or CodeWarror IDE it allows you to program the memory contained on the controller board. It supports both hardware and software break points so code can be debugged in both volatile and non-volatile memories.

Signal conditioning boards connect between the external plant and the embedded controller to modify the external signal so that it can be processed by the controller.
